Welcome to the wild world of queer American poet Cody Draco, where a literary shootout with the Spirit of the Cowboy marks the start of a distinctly promising career dedicated to excavating 21st-century existence to expand beyond the confines of masculinity into the freedom of being

first and foremost…

human.

Cody Draco is a queer poet, settled but never stagnant, creatively restless in the ever-shifting North American landscape. His poem, “Anatomy of the Human Experience”, was selected as the winner of the 2025 Chaffin/Kash Prize presented by the Kentucky State Poetry Society. His collection, “Spirit of the Cowboy”, received the Voyages of Verses Book Award from OneTribune. Unflinching yet deeply human, his poetry pushes boundaries in an intentional effort to code a new masculinity. His work has appeared in Santa Clara Review and elsewhere.
